In this musical adaptation of Charlotte Brontë’s 19th century masterpiece, the titular heroine struggles to balance her morals with her desire for freedom as she flees a traumatic childhood. Finding escape in a role as a governess at Thornfield Hall, she meets the house’s brooding master Mr. Rochester and has to choose between a life she wants and what she believes is right.
Off Brand Opera’s production of Jane Eyre: The Musical will highlight the moral complexities that exist in the novel by showing multiple characters’ points of view. Instead of siding only with Jane as a moral authority, she has to learn to question the beliefs instilled in her and ultimately shape her own understanding of faith, judgement, and forgiveness.
